While I am certainly blessed to have family and friends who are always close by, I'd like to think that true friendship can in fact be built without the need for physical proximity.

I didn't get to see the episode you are talking about but, now I understand the question, I am a little weirded out. I really do think that my internet friends are as valuable in my life as the friends I see 'in person', as it were. I would hope to know if any of them needed to be mourned, but also to smile with them when they are celebrating life!..
