Great point we have become exactly what we wanted to be removed from! so now what? the government is so strong there is no way to revolt as they did back then, we are prisoners of our own making.

It is weird to be speaking sort of in favor of taxes but...
Did you know that the US has had the lowest tax rate of any industrialized country in the world for at least the last 50 years?
Some countries pay higher taxes but get free health care, so people actually end up with more money than we do. We get big armies and the Air Force paying $200 for a hammer. Whats wrong with this picture?? Your taxes do keep up the roads you drive on, and that the trucks that bring your food to you drive on. I live near Mexico, where the wealthy pay almost no taxes--a simple drive to the store can cost your car, and you, a differential (oh, $1,000 or so to repair) so paying to keep the roads in good shape does save you money in the end. If the gvt. spends tax money on stuff that makes more money (education for example) or saves money (medical research) or saves your life (medical research again), its worth it. But no, I do not like to pay taxes, either. In an ideal world everything I want would be free but unfortunately we do need to pay for the things we want. Chose what the gvt. buys wisely. If you want a war you will pay for it at the rate of $2 billion a week. So chose wisely.

The Boston Tea Party wasn't about paying no tax at all. It was protesting against having to pay tax to the British government whilst Americans had no representation in the British parliament.
'No taxation without representation!' was a popular slogan of the times.

Would you rather be living in colonial America and driving everywhere on dirt roads? Would you like to go to the outhouse to take a poopie? Taxes pay for our highways and other infrastructure. If we want a good life, we have to pay for it. That being said, I hear taxes are really low in Somalia and Nigeria.

Good question. First will you agree all taxes are taxes? Federal, State, local. If you agree then "ALL" taxes are taxes. They went up not down under Republicans. In 2004 162 million Americans paid Federal Income taxes. Half that number earned under $30,000 per year. Of those who paid Federal taxes in 2004 one percent, those making over $1.25 million got a $58,000 Federal tax cut. Those making $56,200 got a $1180 Federal tax cut. State and local taxes ate up this $1180 twice over. Gas prices ate this up also. Republicans gave Big oil a $18 billion tax cut.

The funny thing is that Americans did not mind taxes, they just wanted to be represented when they came into discussion back in England. "No taxation without representation!" Well, we got our representation now and we are being taxed to death. Got to love irony.

What do you think other countries don't have taxes?????? Believe me you have it easy..... Unless you want to live in some sandy place, and get a firm understanding of what race profiling really is.. Just shut up and pay your taxes or go on welfare and live in public housing or go homeless then you wont have to pay them....

We're not overtaxed. Not when we have collectively decided to have the amount of government that we have. We are not beginning to pay the bills for it, and it's all because of anti-tax mania.
Hey, The Pentagon and Homeland Security and Corporate Welfare (and debt servicing) costs a lot fo monmey! Pay up!

we could not build this country without taxes, but at least now we get to have a say about where the money goes and can hold the gov. accountable.
unless you would rather pave your own roads, install your own sewer system, protect your home from foreign countries, and pay your neighbor welfare.
