i was always taught to aim for my own weight. that's the ideal weight. anything above that is for the glory!.
ex.
i weigh 200 lbs. exactly. i'm only able to bench press 135 lbs.
i've been pressing for over a year, but, have made little progress in the direction of 200. i started pressing at 90. the first few adjustments were quick and easy. but, once i reached 120, the going got tough. within this week i do plan to attempt 137.5. for me, progress is slow compared to other parts of my body.

If you weigh around 175 you should be able to get at least 225 off your chest. If you weigh less then a little less than fifty pounds more. If you weigh over 200 you should be able to lift maybe sixty pounds more than your body weight.

Some might consider these estimates to be a bit high but you should push yourself to achieve these results if you're not there yet.

bench pressing depends on personal strength. i can not bench press much as a girl. I used to do 135 in high school that was ages ago. some people can dead lift more than they can bench press.

You should be able to bench your own weight.
