Nobody buys Gold Bars anymore.
If you want to invest in Gold then buy the actual metal safely stored in a Bank Vault.
Open a brokerage account at TD Ameritrade and buy GLD.

You can have a bank account in gold, you don't have to have the actual bars that have buying and selling commission.
Go to www.goldmoney.com and read about it.
But here is something to consider, do you want gold as an investment or as a hedge against disaster???
If you want a hedge against disasters buy gold and store it yourself, if you want investment, buy a gold mutual fund, the shares of gold companies grow at a faster rate than gold when gold price is rising.
