It isn't that hard to get into SOME law school -- but it is hard to get into ANY medical school.
Getting into Yale Law may be as hard as getting into Harvard Medical school. But there are a lot of mediocre law schools that an average to above average student could get into. On the other hand, even the lowest ranked medical schools are extremely selective.

It does depend on the school. A less popular place for medicine would probably be easier to get into then a more popular place for law, however, in general I'd say that getting into medical school is harder.
The selection process usually differs between the schools. In general they are looking at your academic achievement and who you are as a person. THe want to know that you are right for the course, are seriously interested in it and not just doing it for money for example. They also want to know that you can cope with the stresses and the hard work involved. THey usually wouldn't want a big nerd who does nothing else with their life other then have their head in a book, as this may lead, especially in medicine, to that individual being unable to cope with the stress as they wouldn't have anything to help them wind down- such as being in a band, going hiking or simply going out to clubs etc (aka having a social life). Obviously this would be a fine balance as they don't want someone who's just going to be partying all the time and be too tired or simply too pre-occupied to focus on what's required.
To put it simply they want a well-rounded individual that they can see will pass the course without any hassle and who is actually seriously interested in the career choice they'll be making.

I am an engineering student so I might not be completely accurate but from my point of view it is kinda hard to compare the two, Medicine is all science and math where law is more focused in the arts... If I had to answer this question I would say the MCAT is harder but ironically at the same time I would probably do better on it.

Med school. Definitely.
The reason is simply numbers. Well, mainly. There are far more law schools than there are med schools. You can have a much lower GPA and still get into an accredited law school than for med school. Plus, med schools have required courses (which are hard, and the competition makes it even more so). Law schools don't require anything.

I would say Med School is harder. To get an M.D. you must go to school for at least 8yrs., then do residency 3-10yrs. before you can apply for your specialty. Your grades must be damn near perfect for them to even look at you. Law School is only about 7yrs. and you're done. Med School is far more prestigious, so try Med school first and if you don't get in there's always Law School.
It's all about if you would rather defend the person or cut him open. Either way, you're helping. Win win situation. :-)

One isn't necessarily harder than the other, but to finish the degree is another story. Ever seen any TV medical dramas? It's called internship, and that can mean LOOOONG hours
