Say whatever you said here and see where it leads you. Don't worry. At worst, you'll say all the 'wrong' things. At best, you'll have released many years of pent-up thoughts/feelings and that'll give you 'a shot in the arm' for greater work!

Not sure what help you're asking for...do you need to know what it means to write a journal in America? Or do you know what it means to write a journal, but don't have any ideas on what to write about?

For starters, it's kind of hard to "write" a journal. In other words, typically one "keeps" a written journal, accounting events that transpire over a period of time. Sitting down today and writing a journal that is due in a few days would seem silly.

Of course, the professor could be asking you to "make up" a journal...or devise something that is an example of what a journal would be.

I would find out if you are being asked to write a journal of your own accord, and if so, what is the time line....from today until you have to turn it in? Or can it cover a specific event from beginning to end?

And if your supposed to be writing something that would be an example of someone's journal, well then pick a famous person from your country, create a timeline of their life, and then make up the details needed to create that person's journal.

Without further information, I really don't know what else to say, sorry!

I came from a different country too... Now I live in Canada. I suggest write something that takes the interest of your teacher and also an important topic in the society. For example, democracy, environment, etc, etc… if your journal has to be a personal one, and then write something that you actually have experienced. Like being a new student in a different country. I am not sure what ur teacher wants. I mean personal or philosophical journal. Hope u will do well... Wish u all the best!

I agree. Write about your country. Write things that are different. Things you like about America and things you like about your country. Do you have to write in this journal everyday? If so, then you just write about what is on your mind that day. You can write about someone that made you mad on the road that day, or your opinions on something you saw on the news. A journal should be a very casual writing assignment. It's basically like a diary, except other people will see it.

Write a journal on your experiences in America compared to those of your home country.

If it can be on anything, why don't you write about the differences between your home country and America. Could write on food, culture, entertainment, etc. Good luck!

Well! You start writing. You will start getting feedbacks. Give a good thought to each feedback.
You will soon realize that you are doing better!

why not write about something you know about? Not because you are in America means you have to write about something American. Furthermore, can you write on something you know nothing about? Call/talk to you teacher and tell her your concern, she may allow you to write on something familiar to you. Have fun.
