We demand that other countries allow UN Inspectors to investigate their nuclear activity. Do we undergo the same scrutiny? Why or why not? Are we hypocrites if we don't?

Josh - doesn't it make sense that if you make demands of others, you should submit to same ones yourselves? At the very least to avoid the image of hypocrisy and provide a good example?

Londgirl - maybe not for religious reasons (although that is highly suspect) we've blown up Iraq for capitalistic reasons.

matthew_yelle: Exactly. It's not about being "liberal" or whatever. It's about executing good foreign policy. Let's set a good example. That gives them less room to bargain with in terms of hypocrisy. Besides, what are we hiding??? Hmmm???

Tommy G. - There's a big difference between us setting up a committee and say, "see we're investigating ourselves and keeping ourselves in check" and telling them, "but WE will need to come over and make sure you're complying" Let's just have an independent 3rd party do it like we ask them to submit to.
And by the way, we have been "proliferating" plenty of weapons to Israel and we gave a bunch to Saddam in the 80s.
