We have already been separated for a little while, and he knows I am not sure I want to be married. I find it difficult to talk about relationship issues at home, but I don't want to put any of us in an awkward position in public either.

Sorry to hear... I did this in a busy coffee shop, because there are to many distractions in either home and I got to the point and was honest and direct in a better way.

In a park where there is still people around but you can get loud if necessary, I would do it in a coffee shop/cafe, not during peak hours though, more ~ between breakfast/ lunch or after supper-ish. Find a quiter spot away from the traffic of people fixing their coffee or near washroms, Good Luck to you.

How about thinking out side of the box and talk about saving the marriage with counseling. But that is radical, who would ever expect to do something like that. Save a marriage, hmmm. Sounds like a lot of work. But, I don't know all of your details.

Other than that: You should have home field advantage since the topic is of your doing. It will allow you to be comfortable and strong. Just open a bottle of wine and relax and work your way into it via other topics. Who knows, your love may rekindle after the bottle and you'll both wake up with a new found love for each other in the morning.

but what do I know about love.

Not too many choices. Aside from public all you can do is go to a hotel or the home of a friend or family. I would bite the bullet and discuss it at home.
