can someone tell me the universally accepted definition of family?

There isn't one. If there were, it would be impossible for someone to claim that a gay couple raising a child is not a legitimate family; sadly, this happens all the time. There are also people who would claim that a single parent raising a child does not constitute a family. Some people would consider their own ex-spouse to still be a member of their family, but others would not. In some contexts, the word family means only a nuclear family: children being raised by one or more parents. In other cases, it might mean any relatives who are cohabitating with the nuclear family, to include grandparents or an aunt or uncle. And in yet other instances, it actually means everybody that you are related to, alive or dead, including your late great-uncle's same-sex partner, your second cousin once removed, and your great-aunt's brother-in-law. And, yes, I have all of the latter three in my own extended family.

I think a "family" whether biological or otherwise is more than one male and or female who love eachother uncconditionally and would do whatever it takes to protect, cherish,adore, embrace, feel free, butt heads, defend til the end,sit quite with,cry with, hide with,discover with, smother with,lover with,follow GOD with,call,go to a mall, watch TV, go to a game, maybe look the same,...or not..be total opposites of, be proud and show off of,
Raise the game with, go insane with, take to the docs or hosp, sit with you when you have chicken poxs,

Come see that play, sometimes stay away, always bonded never broke with love who could choke...

HOWEVER......
Allows you to make your own mistakes, trys not to critizes you and is always sometimes fake. Shows the "lennox" and the "diamonds" The education and the Islands. Thinks of you in faraway places might send a postcard but dont be thankin...

This to me is a family Im just a chick from NJ!
