It seems few understand that the US is NOT a democracy. It is a democratic republic.
In a true democracy, the people decide EVERYTHING, which is not what happens in the US. In America, the people elect others who will represent them in a legislature, congress or city council. They decide what is necessary, not the people. Although the people can voice their opinions to the representative, the representative is not mandated to obey.

In a dictatorship, one person makes the decisions.

Either could be bad or good but history proves that all forms of government become corrupted sooner or later.

Dictatorships usually don't end well. Check out Taiwan, that went from authoritarian to democracy. Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia was a dictator that held his country together and was very beloved even if he was oppressive. After he died his country fell into civil war and genocide. Dictatorship moves faster than democracy does because it doesn't require many people to agree on a solution to a problem, just the dictator.

Dictatorship generally creates more problems than solving them.Though its true that decision making would be faster- would it be for the common good of the nation or for the benefit of a few who are the favored by the dictator - more often than not, for the later. And this problem does creep into democracy as well-but to a much lesser extent.Government may follow policies that are good for a particular group of people for their own vested interests. So the best path way would be reducing government intervention which would put brakes on red-tape and corruption. That government is best which governs the least.

A dictatorship would be great for all the stupid, lazy, and apathetic people who don't realize/care that they have no rights.

The USA is NOT a democracy, it's a republic.

People like you represent how the US has kind of turned around 360 degrees. At first, when we were ruled by England, we wanted independence, we wanted a democratic political system. "No taxation without representation" basically means "No having laws if we don't get to pick who makes them." Which is what we do now. And now people want to go back to having others make every decision for us, without a care in the world. A dictatorship would be great for those of us who do not want to think.

I have seen both the systems and i can say that it is not the system but the kind of people who are going to run the system. Only difference is, in dictatorship the source of failure can be traced and corrected but in democracy you have to tolerate for the next five years.

Democracy is good in a well educated society. In a country like ours, mostly the system is leading to foolish moves. Just watch our leaders, most of them are criminals. Among general public the rate of criminals is 0.2% or even less than that. Among our politicians the rate is ranging from 15 - 55%. Just imagine what sort of justice we can get through these criminals.

Dictatorship by a person who has the sense of pure justice is much better than democracy.

if the dictator is a true utilitarian, then without a doubt dictatorship is better because you can live comfotably and still live with your conscience day in and day out.
