Cloud Atlas, by David Mitchell, is one of my all-time favorite novels. I guarantee you will find it "quirky or unusual" - Enjoy!

Read a thing called Red Bird Just Like This. It was just published last year. It's an autobiographical novel by Earl Jesse Stevens. You've probably never heard of him, but after you've read it you'll wish you knew him personally. It's a book that gives hope to the hopeless. It's a book that gets down to to the real nitty gritty. It's rock and roll on a sticky bun.

Two words - Terry Pratchett. Anything by him but particularly, Guards, Guards!; Night Watch; Men at Arms; and or Thud! Very quirky, extremely snarky and laugh out loud funny.

I recommend The Castle of Otranto, if you are into older books. It's a book during the middle ages with mysterious things happening to the characters. I couldn't put it down!

Have you read the "Odd Thomas" series from Dean Koontz? There are 3 of them, and they are incredible. Plus his take on Frankenstein is awesome, there are two of those and a third coming out soon.

I like Gregory Maguire...he kind of puts a twisted spin on fairy tales...very interesting.

I also like The Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker.
