You can use vinegar to remove stains as well as a little bleach with water to soak. This also removes smells too. good luck

I use lemon juice w/water and a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid and put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds (depending on how thick the container is). I let it soak, sometimes overnight, then I wash it in boiling water and let it air dry. I once left tuna fish in a container too long. It took me 2 days to get rid of the smell, but finally it did come out.

This works on tomato based stains, and it is simple with no elbow grease. Clean the plastic as you would normally do and place it outside on a sunny day. The sun bleaches the stain right out.

add some dish-washing liquid to a little water and mix it thoroughly. pour it in the plastic container and leave it there for a while. that should take care of the smell. for the stains, you really have no choice but to scrub or scrape them off... also, if you don't plan on using them for a while, don't keep them with their cover on, because keeping them uncovered can really help keep the unwanted smell away.

stains will be pretty hard to get out, as far as the smell mix hot soapy water up in them and let them sit for a few hours, and that always helps me w/ getting rid of smells

i would not recommend using bleach or vinegar. the plastic will aabsorb these odors as well. baking soda will take out the smells, but the stains might come out with dishwasher soap.

As cheap as plastic containers are, throw it away and buy a new one. If reg dish soap with hot water will not work then toss the thing.

regrettably you would be caught with the stink of Bleach!! with that suggestion. attempt lemon juice and baking soda, rinse it and then wipe it out with aluminum foil. in basic terms as you will possibly rub your hands around the sink spout to neutralize the smell of garlic, this could neutralize the smell from the plastic container.
