I am a Christian. I have read the Koran and think compared to the new testament it is not even straw. I think Hinduism is a bit over the top - Gandhi said that if christians acted like christ he would have converted. I think Buddhism is flawed. even the dalai lama said that if he were born in the west he would be a christian. I think Judaism is well surpassed by the evolution of the law in Christianity.
Tell me in a logical way what is wrong with Christianity 'love thy neighbour' 'turn the other cheek' - the teachings of Christ - and if someone manages to convince me i would drop it.

To the man who said the earth was flat - they didn't say it was flat in the bible. The only reason you know that is because someone told you and you believed, and these people beleived things with the same process as you, so you are no greater or lesser
Avie you are totally right. I am not a christian who agress with wars and doesn't allow the homeless into church. i act like a chrsitinaity becuase i always think what would christ do. i think the majority of christinais are like this - not everyone would keep the homeless out of a church - only the christians who are christians for credit. but based on the teachings of christ, following his teachings - it is a perfect and faultless example. a good muslime is common, a good buddist doesn't exist, a godd jew is common but a good chrsitian is a rare thing and very precious when found. There has probably only been one and he was Jewish.
I don't want to know about the practicalities - only the essence of the ideology

Love they neighbor is a great idea. Everyone should strive to love the people around them.
Turn the other cheek is a lousy idea. One should stand up against violence, oppression, and abuse, not turn the other way when you have been a victim. You have a duty to seek justice against criminals, not to let them go on abusing others because you've told them by "turning the other cheek" that they can get away with their behavior.

In theory, there is nothing wrong with Christianity. It has a lot of good ideas, as you said. It promotes peace, acceptance, love, understanding, forgiveness...these are things this world needs. However, in practice, Christianity leaves much to be desired, as does every religion.
Most Christians don't practice the "love thy neighbord" or "turn the other cheek." Most of them are mean, intolerant and unforgiving. What is tolerant about gay bashing? What is loving about referring to a single unwed mother as a slut? What is caring about turning a homeless person away from church because his clothes are shabby? What is kind about threatening a stranger will hellfire and brimstone? I just don't see it.
For a while, I volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society with my father at the church he attends. The idea is a good one. Help out people with some emergency assistance. I had to leave because I couldn't stand the hatefulness displayed by some of the other volunteers. And these are pious, "God-fearing" people. One volunteer there brags about how does three hour-long devotions a day. But when a woman who had been in jail for prostitution came in needing some food because she had nothing after her stay in jail, this devout lady didn't want to help her. When a bi-racial couple came in needing assistance paying a bill, this holier-than-thou lady didn't want to help them because she didn't want to encourage the mixing of races. When a homeless man with whiskey on his breath came in needing food, this pious lady didn't want to help a "filty degenerate". And it isn't just this lady, it's nearly every Christian I have ever met!
The principles of Christianity are good and noble. But Christians (most of them) can't follow them and are the worst hypocrites I have ever known. A religion is only as good as its followers and its followers have shown time and again that Christianity is lacking. I know there are Christians that are not hypocrites, that do adhere to these lofty standards. But where are they? Why do they not stand up and tell these other Christians not to behave this way? Do they not care? By their inaction, they do more harm than their counterparts' hateful actions.

No, you're at a loss for words! Telling human beings that sticking a penis into yet another guy's (or lady's) filthy risky micro organism filled rectum, which applications to push waste OUT of a body, is frequent by any ability, is undesirable. An absolute MISUSE of their organs, going one hundred% hostile to "organic use- (because the Bible says) finally homosexuals will have interaction in sex with one yet another, ultimately. similar applies for lady. The organs you've at the same time with a penis, testicles and sperm as a male... and a woman has a womb, ovaries, Fallopian tubes and eggs... aspect out what the organic USE and performance you're to have along with your body, and use them for. The Bible speaks hostile to such habit encouraging a healthful, germ loose sexual courting between married couples. No undesirable in that son. Smh.....

There is nothing wrong with the Christian religion. If Christianity is the religion you choose, the religion you love, than be happy with that, it makes no sence trying to compare one religion with another for no purpose but to prove who is right and who is wrong. Follow your own belief and be happy.
