I sent a Viewsonic VX715 TFT screen for repair. They said I can have a replacement monitor but it is a VX712. I can't really tell which one is better. Do i accept the VX712 or wait for a replacement VX715? Also the reason why one is better that the other is a must. Thanks

Take the VX712. They are offering you a good deal. It is the same size as your VX715, and actually slightly better in that the overall resolution and response times are better.
VX715 - 450:1, 25 ms
VX712 - 500:1, 8 ms

I had a problem years back with a Viewsonic CRT and they offered me a similar deal, a better replacement monitor. Cant complain about their service in that area.

The only thing I can think of is in the numbers. The 712 is probably a 12" and the 715 is probably a 15" monitor. I would go with the 720 at least....

Appears the same, really except for the speakers, and a ever so slightly better contrast ratio. (on the 712)

Both are pretty much the same (17"). Here is a link to each:

vx712: http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=VSMEVX712&style=printable

vx715: http://www.monitoroutlet.com/D88257.html

Looks like the 712 has built in speakers.
