Depends on the Native group. Mine sees land as a communal settlement--like a territorial area or a nation. Individuals traditionally didn't own deeds to land, but we do now. Others don't see it the way we do though. Europeans parcel out land to nuclear families, whereas our communities would share the area.

It is difficult to answer. I never met a native American or west African.
