It's possible for a white person to be a victim of racism...anyone can be.

Yes it is possible. Believe it or not we hear of racism almost daily but not the word racism just the actions. The government is not for white people any longer if you haven't noticed. Us whites are majority in population but minority in all other situations. Just a couple of days ago the only black neighbor I have had alot of people at her house. And no it wasn't MLK Day it is like that all the time. They are always so loud having cops at their house for loud music, fights, etc. Needless to say they are the only ones that have the police come to their house often. No I don't live in the ghetto. Anyhow,...my son came running inside hollering "Momma call 911!" I got him to calm down and tell me what was going on. He then tells me that there was a black lady with a knife threatening someone and that she popped someone's tire on their vehicle. I called the cops. They came and advised me to speak with their landlord. I did and guess what. They didn't get evicted. Had that been me or any other white person we would have had 3 days to evacuate the premises. Not to mention even if the person had left from a white person's house that had done that someone would be going to jail! 911 here is taken seriously here. But noone went to jail! Racism or discrimination you chose?

Edit: Another example of racism,... Read my question How would you feel about this?

Racism can happen to anybody at any time. It is the use of nationality or skin colour to intimidate people or as an excuse for abusive or violent behaviour. This is why I don't understand the scandal surrounding Big Bro. People have mimicked Shilpa's accent, but have not used her nationality or skin colour as an excuse for the shocking way they have treated her. Bullying, yes. Racism, I don't think it is.

Racism is less well known when directed at white people, because we rarely complain about it. We seem to think that because we are responsible for a lot of racism and slavery in the past, it is now ok for some to treat us the same. I believe everybody should just learn to respect each other, and never hold grudges.

The answer, of course, is yes. It's not only possible, it happens every day in this country. It happens in college admissions, It happens in employment oppurtunities. I have, in fact, been a victim of it in my life. Some people would tell you that racial quotas or affirmative action are simply a way to redress past grievances, but ya know, I never discriminated against anybody so why did they punish me? The idea that you get rid of racism by practicing racism seems a little strange to me. As for why you don't hear much about it, well, I'm sure you know the answer to that. It just wouldn't be PC to mention such things.

Of course, everybody is racist whether or not they accept it. It isn't only a "White" issue. Racism is a human condition and humans come in all races and ignorance makes us racist but sometimes if you don't have contact with another race and only see images of stereotypes of people that is how you perceive them and that is basically what racism is, blurred perception.

White people have been the foremost in racism because of how they treat other cultures especially black people so there is kind of "white guilt" with the perception that it is okay and it's not. People make the argument that white people did bad things and now it's their turn and that only tells me that another race would do bad things but just didn't get the chance to.

Because, when we are still technically the majority in most areas of the world where "racism" is truly acknowledged, then how could someone possibly be racist towards whites??

If we said that racism was occuring towards whites, wouldn't that be a step back in time, and let's face it, with all the political correctness, it would blow up, suggesting that by saying that whites are the victims, that would make them racist, and so on and so on.

Yes, it is possible. At one time in our life my husband and I had a little money and were in the position to adopt a child. There was a wonderful 14 years old black boy we wanted to adopt. But what it added up to was that the boy was black and we were white. Even though there was a perfect match of personalities and living conditions were good, the Child Protective Services worker who was black gave us all kind of artificial excuses why we could not adopt that boy, He wanted mother and father badly. The boy himself said that he did not care about the race of his potential parents. He just wanted a family and to be loved. Needless to say, he never got out of the system. He was not adopted, and at the age of 18 the Child Protective Services stopped supervising him. The boy was on his own. It is practically impossible to fight a governmental institution. I see it as a case of a pure, nasty racism.

We do hear of it, but not so much because our society is overloaded with political correctness.

yes a white person can be a victim to racism but the press and other media sources never get on the band waggon or write about it as it doesn't make good headlines

over the years there have been little stories in the press about the white women who had to remove all her ornaments of pigs from a front window as it offended all the local Muslims she'd had months of bullying and harassment and they got a court order to have the ornaments removed or like the flight attendant who was sacked for wearing a cross on an Arabic airline

we as a nation never seem to stand up to what we believe in and our government allow other nations to dictate this countries laws to match their own when it should be that we have our own laws and they should abide by them but in doing so we as a nation are racist. go figure

A number of years ago, a company that I worked for got rid of a number of staff with no warning. I investigated sueing for wrongful dismissal. As I was already in a new job I was told it wasn't worth it. No legal aid and the bulk of the payment made up of loss of earnings, which I didn't have due to the new job. One of my Asian collegues who was in exactly the same situation as me, sued for racial discrimination. The matter was settled out of court and he is not allowed to say how much he recieved. But it was enough to pay his house off! While I do not begrudge him one penny of what he got. I do feel that if anybody was the victim of racial discrimination, it was me, the white worker.
