I love my boyfriend to death but since we moved in together we can't even sleep in the same bed some nights because of his snoring and extreamely heavy breathing. He can fall asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow and starts snoring and im left wide awake with a pillow over my head and the fan on trying to muffle the noise! I hate to wake him up every 10 mins to stop him, and I hate having to leave the room and sleep elsewhere. Has anyone found something that actually works to help with snoring?? Its driving me crazy!!

See a doctor, he could have health problems which need looking at.
Until then some self help methods...he should try and lose any excess weight, not to sleep on his back, try the springy nose strips which keep the nose open, sleep with his head in a straight line with his body (shaped pillow is good for this) and not to drink alcohol in excess (especially just before bed time!);

If his snoring is really loud and disruptive, chances are good that he has a condition called sleep apnea, which MUST be taken seriously. Untreated sleep apnea not only stresses both the snorer and everyone else in the house who can't get a good night's sleep, it can also lead to heart malfunction and death!

Apnea is easily treated with the use of a night-breathing aid called a CPAP. He must see a sleep doctor before he can get one, as they have to be individually adjusted, but most insurance covers the cost. CPAP eliminates snoring 100% and keeps his heart from being damaged. Surgery is very rarely used to treat apnea, as the success rate is not that good. CPAP, on the other hand, is very successful, and most people won't even take a brief nap without it once they learn how good it is.

Please ask him to ask his doctor to refer him to a sleep doctor or sleep clinic ASAP. These facilities often have a long waiting list, and procrastinating can really damage your health. Do it today.

He may need to go to the doctor and be tested for sleep apnea. I know a couple of people who have done this and wound up getting a machine that they put a mask on before going to bed and it helps them get the oxygen that they need to sleep better. They said that after getting it they sleep much better and wake up feeling more rested. Also they have more energy because they actually slept good. If he doesnt want to try that the only idea I can say is nudge in the side and make roll over on his side.

He needs to be checked at the docs for a medical cause for his snoring. Once the doc rules out a medical cause for the snoring the doc will offer suggestions on what to do. Snoring can be a sign of serious problems so have him get this checked out.

tell him to buy a box of breathe right nose strips. they should open his nasal passages and prevent the snoring. if not, he needs to see a pulminologist. he may be dealing with sleep apnea, which can be dangerous and life threatening.
