3 - 1/2n = 10
2(3) - 2(1/2n) = 2(10)
6 - n = 20
6 - n - 6 = 20 - 6
- n = 14
- 1(- n) = - 1(14)
n = - 14
The answer is n = - 14

Hey, Layla
Why don't you look at your answer of n=-26. It is wrong and I will show you why:
3-1/2(-26)=10
3+13=10
16≠10
Therefore, n does equal -14 and I have proof to show you why:
3-1/2(-14)=10
3+7=10
10 does equal 10.
Next time, make sure you have the right answer before posting next time!

1/2n=n/2
3 - 1/2n=10
3- n/2=10
-n/2 =10-3
-n/2=7
-n=2x7
-n=14
n=-14

Multiply both sides by 2 to get rid of the fractions:
2(3-1/2n)=2(10)
6-n=20
Subtract 6 from both sides:
-n=14
Divide -1 from both sides:
n=-14
Check:
3-1/2(-14)=10
3+7=10
10=10
I hope this helps!

I'm assuming you mean
3 - (1/2)n = 10
{It's difficult to tell without proper parethesis what you mean}
Moving the 3 over to the right hand side, we have
(-1/2)n = 7
Multiplying both sides by -2, we have
n = -14

not sure if 1/2n mean (1/2)n or 1/(2n)
so heres the ans. for each case
--------------------------------
3-1/(2n)= 10
multiply both sides by 2n:
6n-1=20n
-1=14n
n= -1/14
------------------------------------
3-(1/2)n= 10
multiply both sides by 2:
6-n=20
-n=14
n= -14

3 - (-7) = 10
so, -7 = 1/2n
so, -14n = 1
therefore, -n = 1/14
therefore, n = -14
