What does this mean in pregnancy?

I am 10 weeks pregnant and the doctor said that my uterus has flipped. should I be worried or is this something that is common in pregnancy?

This is not normal. You need to get this clarified by your Dr. and find out if there are risks because of this. I have never heard of a uterus flipping, could it be tilted? That is more common. you really need to ask your Dr. questions about what to expect.

i dont think that it actually "flips", but it tips more forward or backwards, rather.

They can be either retroverted (backward-tilted) or anteverted (forward-tilted), with retroverted being the more common.

Except for these highly unusual situations, we now know there is no infertility risk associated with a tilted uterus. When a woman with a tilted uterus becomes pregnant, her uterus moves forward naturally, and by the fourteenth week of pregnancy all uteruses are anteflexed. Delivery is completely unrelated to the angle of the uterus.

Occasionally a woman with a tilted uterus will feel more rectal pressure during the earliest weeks of pregnancy. But there is no added risk of miscarriage or bleeding related to uterine retroflexion.
Other than that, I dont think you have much to worry about, but u should discuss ur concerns with ur doctor, u know, to be aware of any situations that may come along. Good Luck, and Congrats!!

You should have asked your doctor when he told you...Did he seem worried about it?? I think I would call him and ask questions!!!

i thought it flipped when you where in labor. i would call my ob/gyn because this sounds like a question for him or her.
