The only reason same sex marriage is illegal is that it was banned by the Pope. St. Paul condemned sexuality in general and particulary for any purpose other than procreation, and allowed marriage solely for the purpose of producing children. The same-sex marriage ban is a clear case of making laws recognizing an establishment of the Christian Religion and prohibiting the free exercise thereof by all other faiths. The idea that marriage must be in accordance with Christian dogma to be called marriage is preposterous. Life long heterosexual monogamy is but one of the many kinds of marriages that have flourished worldwide throughout History. It's not even one of the more successfull kinds, as evidenced by the divorce rate.

Yes they should. Same sex couples have been living together, having sex, and even having committment ceremonies (which are like weddings but the marriage is not legally recognized) for centuries. Why not just go ahead and make it legal? They aren't hurting anyone else. If certain churches don't approve of it, then they can refuse to perform gay marriages.

Of course.. my partner and I have a more respectful and loving relationship than many of the straight people I know, and yet, they can get married after knowing each other for a day and we can't get married at all. The whole argument of preserving the "sanctity of marriage" is a joke considering how many marriages and SECOND marriages end up in divorce. Why shouldn't my partner and I have the same tax breaks, lower insurance costs, legal status and intensive care visitation rights as everyone else.

I think we've made a mistake by jumping into marriage so quickly... I think the government shoudl allow any two people to marry, in a civil ceremony, and each church should have the right to decide whether or not the union will be recognized as a marriage...

I don't see why they shouldn't be! All human beings are supposed to be equals,no matter what their sexual preference or way of life. So at the end of the day i can't see what the problem is. I myself am in a same sex relationship and have been for almost 3 years. we are very committed to each other and would like to marry as soon as we're able.

Absolutely. As long as marriage is a committed decision of two adult persons. Even more I think nobody has the right to tell you with who you must get married. It's a personal decision. And I find healthier to regulate the situation of thousands of people who are struggling with this human right.

Of course, the people who are same-sex persons have no choice to do it. I mean they can't be interested in the others. They can't control their emotion. In a word, it doesn't matter if same-sex is legal. I support it.

yes, same sex marriages should be legal, it has nothing to do with them loving each other, it is the perfect insurance scam to get two parties of the same sex under one insurance policy. come on and lets hoist those rainbow banners and report abuse to all those who do not vote in our favore, which ironically hitlers nazi party basically did, but oh well, time to re-write history as we are so well at doing! we just need to now focus on self denial while we impose self awarness on others! :)

YES. If we hold to separation of church and state, which I strongly feel we should, then same-sex marriage should be allowed in each state, and federal laws.

Churches can do their own thing, but they *should not* have control over the government.

Yes and it can be called marriage because marriage is the putting together of two things.
