7 days after you take your first pill. I am on it and that is what she told me and that is what the paper inside of my pill packet said.

If your girlfriend started taking the pill on the first day of her cycle (when she came on her period) then she will immediately be protected, but I always think its best to leave it a couple of days to ensure protection. If however she didn't they say it's best to wait 1 month to ensure protection. I'm on the pill, and don't worry no one should judge you, it's not "unprotected sex" if she's on the pill :) It's a god send not having to use condoms as well! Hope this helps.

I was on the pill for three years. I quit taking it when we decided we wanted another baby. My conception date (determined by ultrasound) was four days after I took my last pill. Why are you on the pill if you are to young to get pregnant?? Anyway unprotected sex is a bad idea these days...too many stds going around.

Definitely wait until after your next period. The pill will not be fuly effective until after 1 month of it being in your system. Also remember to take the pill at the same time every day! Missing even one day can increase your chances of getting pregnant!

Congratulations on havingthe brains to put your self on birthcontrol!!!! Too many smart young girls are getting pregnant and missing out on their entire lives!!!

Take the first full pack (28 days) before you risk unprotected sex.

Word to the wise, though. I got pregnant on the birth control pill with BOTH of my kids (and I NEVER missed a pill), so, extra protection would be well advised.

Be on them atleast for a full month. It takes your body awhile to get the effectiveness in your system. You should only have unprotected sex if both you and your partner are exclusive to each other and have been checked for sexually transmitted diseases. The pill does not protect against std's, so to be on the safe side use protection.

If you don't trust what is written in the instructions and you think you are too your to get pregnant then don't have sex. Its that simple. They are many things to consider when having sex, and think about AIDS and other STD's that the pill will not prevent you from getting.

If you are too too young to have a baby, you may also want to consider whether you are old enough for an STD. I know that isnt what you wanted to hear but you should really wait until you know either the person you are with is "clean" or you know he's the one. To answer your question though, one week should be enough.

If you don't trust it, then give yourself one cycle on the pill before unprotected sex. If you're still worried, use condoms as well.

Why would you have sex without a condom anyway? unless you're trying to get pregnant. Even if you are on the pill doesn't mean you should have unprotected sex
