A lot of people think of happiness as an elusive, perhaps non-existent idea. Maybe because modern life is so challenging that most of the time people have a bad day. There's alot of nasty ca-ca in the world, right?

Here's what I think happiness is - when things go right for you. You don't actually arrive at a a place called "my happy life," where you're happy pretty much most of the time. You are happy, truly happy from time to time based on whether or not you're getting what you need, whatever that is. Achieving a goal can bring a sense of happiness. Having some luck can do it to. Seeing a best friend after a long absence.

What makes us unhappy is frustration, pain, embarrasment, failure, loss, things like that. Try having a happy day after you've lost your wallet or had some one steal tires off your car. No way, man.

So happiness is something that comes from time to time because your needs were met. What's really great is to have numerous things go your way in one day. Man those are really happy days. You can just bathe in it. But no, man, no permanent condition called "happiness."

I really believe that happiness is a chioce not a feeling. You can choose to not let anyone words bother you and be happy, you can choose to get a better job and make more money, you can choose not be with a man or women that treat you bad, everything in this world is a choice and you have no one else to blame but yourself. So YES happiness exist if you choose to be happy. happiness only comes from you you are the KEY.

The first key to happiness is to be self-less. Have you noticed, people who may have their own problems yet spend a lot of time helping others, tend to be really happy anyway? Also, a lot of our sadness comes from our self being hurt. If we don't really care that much about ourselves, then we have much less chance of being hurt. Of course then, we may be hurt when something happens to our loved one. But if we accept that everything happens for a good reason and ultimately is for our own good, like what is said in Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.", then we can be happy no matter what happens.

Be thankful, and be content are also two of the keys to happiness.

What is the key to happiness, you ask? Well one must look to their own heart, for the answer. Some find it helping others, some find it working all the time.
some find it in their children. some find that being alone is the most peaceful point in ones life. many many thing can bring one happiness. It up to the person who seeks it. To find it. But look within yourself for the answer, Its there.

Simplicity is happiness. Live simply, keeping the clutter at bay.
Look for five things to be thankful for each day. Things that are free and necessary to life are great choices. The air we breathe; clean water to refresh us; whatever food we may eat; The sounds of Nature, birds, wind through the trees, waves hitting the shore, things that lift the spirit. Whatever good health we posses, whatever abilities we are given.
This sets up an internal dialog that assures happiness.
It is life changing.

We are who we are. Your happiness won't change if you change where you live, how much money you make (although people think otherwise). Because you are always the same inside.

I think happiness comes from finding your purpose in life. Is it to help people? Do you have a special talent to work on and share with others?

I also think happiness comes from working on you as a whole person. Exercise, eat right, take time to nourish your spiritual side (whether it's going to a church, reading books, listening to tapes, meditating...), work on building long lasting relationships, surround yourself in things you love (music you like listening to, if you like looking at flowers, lighting candles... pictures of people you love)...

Hope that helps!

You are the key to happiness. You are the one that is in control of your own thoughts and feelings. If you don't feel happy, it is because you are not allowing yourself to be happy. Happiness is within yourself.

Ignorance. Studies show people with higher IQ/intelligence are less happy. Makes sense. They see the world and our existance for what it really is, a depressing place.
