I think the only 3 points that you stop collecting and sell things off are:
1. Your house is too overloaded with crap.
2. You need money and the collection is your only means of income.
3. You don't care about it anymore, thusly, making it easy to seperate from it.
Otherwise, collecting is not a bad thing, as long as it doesn't overtake your life, put you in debt, or squeeze you out of your house!
By the way, anyone interested in a ceramic mask collection from the 80's? Hee hee.....

When I ran out of storage space, which I don't have that much of. When I discovered stuff I had for many years...and didn't use or need it anymore. I have been really 'purging' for a few years now. Every time I get rid of something and unclutter my life from needless 'things'.....I really get a 'high'!!! And....watching a show called "Clean Sweep" really reinforces what I am doing...and makes me feel even better.
And...having a garage sale and making $1000 over one weekend kinda makes you high as well!!

when you stop hanging out with friends just so you can go on ebay and try to find what you want, OR when you still live with your mom especially if you think living in the basement of her home is cool, and when you haven't even talked to an 18+ female in over 2years(im just giving you a grace period) then you should sell all of your stuff and give me 85% of it.

When you have no place to sleep (my sister) when you get bored of the stuff you have and want new stuff (me) when you collect stuff just because you might need it in the future (my mother) When you outgrow spider man comics (my brother n law) When there is no more room to park (my sisters bf, he collects junked out cars)

When you have no more room, your spouse leaves you because of your collection, or you need some money to buy a new collectable item.

It depends... If you're single, you stop when you get married or she will sell your stuff on e-bay.
If you're married, you stop when she tells you that you get to sleep in the attic with your stuff.
