Because Gordon Brown is the best of a bad lot, there really isn't much to choose from! Can't see any of them being an improvement on Tony Blair really, they are all as bent as a butchers hook!

Because the Labour party always does what its present leader says, it's a form of Soviet type communism, also this to be a prize for Brown for not rocking the boat too early as John Major did to Maggie.

Would it not be counter productive for a party still reeling from the Blairites Iraq debacle to appear fragmented? If the Labour Party appears unified they stand a far greater chance again the Conservative Party.

None of them would be any good anyway. Look how power corrupted Tony Blair's good intentions. He's as unpopular as John Major and Margaret Thatcher now.

Because Brown has promised them all a great big fat pay rise and an even bigger pension and perks allowance than they currently get if no one stands in his way!

They are pretty talentless on the whole - tending to bouts of being thick.

He's just the best they've got. I suppose it's like Jack McConnell - that's the best they can do.
