I broken my talus and sprained my ankle while playing softball five months ago. My ankle remians slightly bruised and swollen. Is this normal?

i would definetly go talk with your doctor about it, it's possible that the bone/joint haven't completely healed yet.
generally after an injury when you first resume activity (especially if it's been completely imobilized for an extended period) it needs a little time to get back in the grove. when you first start using it, it's not uncommon for you to experience some pain, swelling and discoloration but i would still consult your doctor

Yes, it can be. Sometimes there is additional bone formation at the former fracture site which can cause irritation and swelling. Especially in the foot, lower leg area which takes so much abuse from walking and standing. Have you followed up with your Dr.?
