No, superstitions are made up fictions. Science is based on what there is actually evidence for.

While it may seem that some superstitions are based on real fact, their true basis is not. For instance, the superstition that it is bad luck to walk under a ladder seems to have some sound reasoning here as you could get something dropped on you (like paint) but that is not the basis of the superstition. The reason you don't walk under a ladder is because the ladder leaning on a building creates an "A" type shape that is an opening to the otherworld, and walking into the otherworld unawares is not a good idea.

The same with the broken mirror. While it is true that at one time it might take you seven years to gather enough cash to purchase another mirror, the mirror was believed to capture one's soul, so if it broke (and you were in the image) the devil had control of your soul for seven years.

No, superstitions are just that: superstitions.

no they are just that,fiction that somebody invented to satisfy their boredom,...your mind gets so tuned to it that you actually believe that a bad thing happend cos you walked under a ladder or a black cat ran across your way.however skeptical you may be of the superstitions,there wouldnt be a situation in life where you will have believed the superstitions,atleast for a second.the peole who say that they completely dont believe in superstitions are so fake...

superstitions are the cornerstones of imagination. imagination is fundamental to the sciencetific process. einstein said that he would rather have imagination than anything else.
