No doubt about a special place in Hell for Shawn's kidnapper. However, I think it is deplorable that Oprah is capitalizing on this tragedy by dragging this family onto her show. This is a very private situation. How is this boy going to get back to anything close to a normal life with the entire world being privvy to his torment. Oprah should be ashamed of herself.

Who knows what actually happened with the kidnapper and his victims. All we can feel is sympathy toward him and his family. Being the same age as him when he was kidnapped, I feel glad that this didn't happen to me. I feel sorry for his family. An i'm glad they kept looking, and he never gave up hope. I don't really think he was abused. If I was, I wouldn't be able to go on T.V and talk about it. But since the kidnapper was bigger and stronger, he might have abused them in some way. The thought of someone being able to assault or hurt someone a lot smaller than them sickens me. Did you hear about the 3 15 year old girls who humiliated and attacked a 12 year old? They kicked her and humiliated her, then posted it on Myspace, so everyone could see. In my opinion I don't really like execution. I've heard this quote and thats what I think. "An eye for an eye, makes the world go blind."

This is a heart wrenching story. What that poor boy had to endure for 11 years, I don't think anyone can imagine. I definitely think he was sexually abused, and I do believe that Ben was to be his "replacement." Thank God for the little boy that saw and described the truck. What a Savior.
I think the kidnapper will be in prison for life, and prison inmates love to get their hands on molesters and pedophiles!
As far as the appearance on Oprah, I don't believe she was trying to capitalize on this event. From what I've read, Shawn wants to help children and families going through similar tragedies, so I believe he wants to be heard.

No. Life in prison would be too nice. I would say "an eye for an eye, but 100 fold" throw him in prison for 4 years, let his fellow inmates know he enjoys molesting kids and feeling dominate. Then when the 4 years is up, execution, it's much less expensive than life in prison and you don't have to worry about him doing it again. Even if he spends a few years in prison, just imagine the cost to keep track of him for the rest of his life (parole officers, web sites, legal documents if he changes residence, causing neighborhoods to loose value because no one wants to live next to a pedophile, etc).

I think his family seems loving but maybe they should not have brought him on tv. I guess they have their reasons. I felt sorry for his sitting there. It must be so terrifying to be ogled and judged by everyone. I felt scared for him. I just hope the media leaves the poor kid alone. I myself am curious about his story but I realize that this is non of my business and that this kid probably does not want the world to know the humiliation and mental abuse he suffered and will continue to suffer until he can be left alone to deal with his many issues.

Take comfort in knowing that when his kidnapper goes to jail he will be abused in the same way he most likely abused those boys. Even prisoners hate child molesters and they will take care of him in jail.

It was very sad to watch how he tried to hold himself together for the interview. He did very good. And he held his parents hands the whole time. So SAD! I am sure he has gone through pain and torment most of us can never imagine. My mom thinks that that guy might have killed him had he not been found. Now he is older and the guy had to go out and get a younger kid to fullfill his sick fantasy. At any rate- I am glad they were found.

Yes. i watched Oprah..i cried also. Yes i think he was abused both emotionally and sexually. I think the JERK should be removed from society permanently...there is no cure for pedophiles or sex offenders.... they are looking at him being involved in other kidnappings and disappearances of other children from the same area

you have said it all and isn't that a terrible thing to do to a child. Our children aren't safe anywhere any more.My granddaughter is 16 and I drive her to school each morning because she has to leave so early in the morning to catch a bus and it's still dark.I am so angry at these animals and I think he should be locked up for life and put into open population in what ever prison he's sent to and every one knows what goes around comes around.
