Theoretically, if you hold a gun parallel to the earth and fire it and drop a bullet on the barrel simultaneously, they will strike the earth at precisely the same instant. That is the way gravity works.The fired bullet will travel much further, but it is still subject to gravity. If the bullets are identical and angled the same way, air resistance will be the same on them. If you drop a bullet point down, that will affect things somewhat, for the fired bullet will have its point in another direction.

You have to state your assumptions before answering.

Flat Earth/ Round Earth
Aerodynamic Resistance or Not

In a flat earth model with no air resistance, the answer is they hit at the same time.

In round earth model with no air resistance, the answer is the one dropped hits faster.

Take aerodynamics into account and the answer is ambiguous. Not enough information. Think a baseball pitcher. The ball doesn't always follow a parabolic path -- it depends how the pitcher throws it.

Theoretically the dropped one would land first.
The reason being,the one going horizontally encounters the earth curving away.
It would not be much but if the horizontal went fast enough it would be in orbit and never touch the ground.

err... the one that is shot out. why? because when u shoot the gun, there is a force from the firepower, thus increasing the speed of the bullet. and also, when u fire a bullet, it starts to spin and there will be less air resistance, but the bullet that had been dropped might be dropping down with a lot of air resistance acting on it.

They arrive at the same time. Linear velocity has nothing to do with the force of gravity.
