1. ethanoyl cholride + ethanol ----> ethyl ethanoate + HCl

2. ethanoic acid + ethanol ----> ethyl ethanoate + H2O
in the second reaction, drops of sulphuric acid is needed as catalyst and there is heating under reflux..... moreover the second equation is reversible...

Hi, hope this is of some help:

Ethanol and ethanoic acid ---> ethyl ethanoate and water
(or ethanol and acetic acid ---> ethyl acetate and water, to use the old fashioned names from over 30 years ago)
CH3CH2OH + CH3COOH ---> CH3CH2OOCCH3 + H2O

Methanol and ethanoyl chloride ---> methyl ethanoate and hydrogen chloride
CH3OH + CH3COCl ---> CH3OOCCH3 + HCl
