Rumours are pieces of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth. A persons intention for listening to and/or repeating them vary dramatically. Some have malicious intent by either starting a rumour or reapeating them, others like the social aspect of conversation and perhaps repeat a rumour with incorrect facts because of forgetfullness or misinterpretation. Rumours can make socializing interesting, make for artful conversation, and inspire change. I personally take any information in, and process it and file it in my brain. Untill I have actually verified the information to my satisfaction I am careful how I use the information and never repeat it unless expressly prefaced with a statement clearly indicating that the information I am about to give is unverified, and considered non factual. There are many times however that I will repeat rumoured information to the person, people, or organization being effected in an effort to stop any malicious intent or in some cases to inform them of the positive things being repeated. I will always call someone out if I know they are spreading a malicious rumour.

Rumours are dreadful things. Case in point is when somewhere in the south of England (i cant remember where) started spreading that a hostel for adults with learning difficulties was infact a paedophile hostel. The hostel was attacked and the resident left terrified. Even when the local council and the media informed angy residents of the true nature of the hostel, threats against it continued. Some defenceless people were attcked because of a vicious rumour that people believed. A horrible story that I've certainly learned from.

Rumours its one of the main reason why people are fighting. Because rumours usually doesn't have positive outcomes its always bad, when that someone heard it and passed it to someone else don't expect it's still the same message as in the original, and can cause conflict "misunderstanding" miused of the original words or situations.

Rumours are almost never true, because the people that start them are always personally affected by what they tell, and so when we hear a rumour, it usually has the 'sting' of the person who told it! (if that makes any sense!!)
So, they are stupid and not worth to believe! (the rumours, not the people who spread them...)

Don't like them. If you're smart enough you can usually spot them and then avoid the people spreading them after all they are just lying to you often for devious underhand reasons.

If you look up rumour on wikipedia under the See Also section it lists amongst others - Advertising, Gossip, Propaganda and Misinformation. Says it all really.

i've got disregarded rumors too at school, yet in my case I have been given a stable snigger out of them, on the grounds that they have been usually with regards to the goth type and song i like, and weren't something undesirable. forget approximately approximately rumors once you could, on the grounds that in basic terms approximately consistently they only become petty stuff, yet in basic terms make confident that what's being suggested isn't bullying or something extreme that can initiate difficulty. no person desires to handle that.

I despise rumours. I think they do nothing but hurt innocent people.

It's a tasteless and a weak pathetic way to devalue someone. If someone really doesn't like somebody find a good reason not stories.

They're mean. They can destroy anyone's image just for convenience sake.

Usually the one that starts them is just trying to get someone off the scene because of jealously or competition.
