Every kid is different. You are going to have to gage the maturity level of your kid and make a decision. I would never give my child unlimited access to the internet without letting her know the dangers.
I mean did you hear about the 16 year old boy who ended up with child porn on his computer because he went on a file sharing site like Napster to download music? The files were embedded, he didn't know they were there and they still tried to make the kid register as a sex offender.
If you have a responsible child that understands right from wrong, go for it.

18. There are a lot of sick weirdos online who will exploit a child of any age. They need to be adults before being allowed unlimited access to the internet.

Case in point: Roughly 10 years ago, my best friend and I were into chatrooms. She was into them more than me. We'd go down to the library every other day to spend hours on the chatroom. Most times I'd read a book while she chatted. Anyway, she met this guy named Lars who swept her off her feet. He was from Denmark. He told her he loved her and it didn't matter to him that he was 29 and she was 17. She started saving up all her money from her after school job to go over there and marry him. Thankfully her dad found out about it and withdrew her money from the bank. If he had waited a week longer, it would have been too late. Later on, we found out that he got arrested for luring another American teen over there, taking away her passport and forcing her into prostitution. White slavery was a big business back then. Don't know if it still is, but it was a terrifying incident for everyone who cared for my friend. To think what might have happened...

It's dangerous enough for some adults to interact online. It's worse for kids. That is why I don't think anyone under the age of 18 should be allowed unlimited access to the internet. The only reason I say 18 is because that's the age they can legally do whatever they want. I think 21 would be more appropriate, but not lawful.

Your age? Or their age?

I believe that children should be given unlimited access to the Internet at the time they go to college.

With guidance - any age!

The world your children live in is completely different to one the one you grew up in.

Children now thrive on learning through ways that werent possible before. Dont give them books! They only cover one subject and are boring and lets face it - dated!

let them have the freedom of knowledge, and for the worrying aspects of the internet, get a parental block!

If they are going to look at such things, trhen let them buy their own computer.......by then they should be old enough!
