The Persian Gulf war was caused when Saddam Hussien invaded Kuwait. We, along w/ a National Coalition, pushed him out of Kuwait and ended Iraq's occupation. The president at the time was George H.W. Bush. Ironically, Bush was critisized by the Democrats for not "finishing the job" and removing Hussein from power.

It was actually two things: One was Saddamn's invasion of Kuwait, which Iraq considered to be a province but the British called a nation, The other was the United Nations Security Council's authorization of force to drive the Iraqis out. The bulk of the forces were American, but the FUNDING came from everywhere. We made money on Desert Storm. We'll be a trillion in the hole by the end of Operation FUBAR.
