Before,my pc used to check drive C for errors automatically upon start up after it was not properly switch off, (i.e. power failure, power plug was detached from outlet, etc.) Now, it,s not happening anymore. Is there something wrong w/ my pc or I just turned off a setting unintentionally? My pc is Windows Xp Professional

It's been my experience that Windows XP is better at determining when a disk check is actually necessary whereas Windows 98 would do it "just to be on the safe side".

If you suspect there may be a problem and XP has not done a boot time disk check, the following steps will force it to do one next time you start up windows:

Hit Start
Select Run...
Type cmd (this will open the command prompt)
Type chkdsk c: /f
Answer Y to the prompt which comes up
