It totally depends on you. If your mother gives you the permission to buy the cockatoo than buy it. Because the cockatoo is such a loving bird that gradually even your mother will start liking it. Or else you can simply buy a cat. Because cat is a very friendly animal which will be your best friend. Also the cat is one of the cleanest animal because it cleans it himself and there's no need for you to give it a bath.

Get the cat since its not a bird.
A cockatoo takes a lot of time and attention. They are like having a 2 year old for the rest of its life (they live upwards of 90 years). If they do not get the attention they crave they can screech (very VERY loud) and start to pull their feathers out.

Both are great animals. The cockatoo is very loving and fun but it needs alot of time and love and attention so if your mom is helping take care of your animal this might not be the bird for you a cat might be a better idea they do no need as much attention

hi scooter. i'm in all probability late getting to this, and no offense yet a Cockatoo is basically interior an analogous genus as different Parrots. I actual have had some, like Scarlet Macaw, African gray, countless conures, Amazons, now a small Lory. A Cockatoo can learn a vocabulary, and a Peach is fairly, whilst Macaws might properly be very Alpha. i might nonetheless in all probability circulate with yet another breed, especially if purely beginning out,,,even for a beginner a Cockatiel might properly be an incredible fowl, and in all, with sturdy wellbeing some can outlive us. I disagree that they,,,any are like 2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous infants in spite of the undeniable fact that. a variety of of that species existence is dependant on Mimicing that's proprietor/keeper and that they are in a position to all learn sturdy manners with ideal care. I actual have had then wreck buttons and straps besides as trusting me sufficient to place the different way up in my hands. that's not the fowl who teaches as much as the two the owner and fowl learn mutually. Dallas, Hugs on yer weekend.

If you live with your mother and she's afraid of birds, you should go for a cat. Getting a bird would be really disrepectful to her and probably cause stress for Mom and the bird. Cats are terrific pets, independant but affectionate.

there is a big difference between a cat and a bird.
Are you still young and live with your mother?
If you have your own place, it is your own life. Don't sacrifice your happiness because your mother dislikes something you have or want or do.

Then buy a cat, they are cleaner and your mom wont be afraid of it. If you live with your mom then dont you think you should consider your moms feelings?
