The only truly sensible explanation I've heard was that JFK killed JFK. See the plot outline for Red Dwarf Series 7, episode Tikka to Ride. It all makes perfect sense.

So people are still willing to believe Lee Harvey Oswald, shot three times in under 7 seconds, through leafy trees, on a mail order rifle with a faulty scope, to a target which was travelling away from him, and the third shot was the most accurate and deadly? Any marksman in the world would tell you the first shot would be most accurate, simply because you have much more time to aim at your target.
None of Oswald's prints were found on the rifle by federal forensics experts. It wasn't until the weapon was returned to TX was a print of Oswald's palm "discovered" on the butt. Oswald was never tested for GSR, to even see if he had fired a weapon that day.
To refute a charge of conspiracy, there could only be three shots, which account for all of Kennedy and Connellys wounds in the car. One shot misses completely and slightly wounds a bystander under the bridge. One shot is the one JFK took in the throat, you can see him react to the shot after they come out from behind the roadsign in the Zapruder film. One shot now has to account for 7 wounds in Kennedy and Connelly. One bullet, which is later recovered in almost perfect condition. And the shell casings recovered in the book depository were initialized by the TX deputy sheriff who recovered them, but there were no initials on the shell casings given to the Warren Commission; signed affidavits, which had notary seals embossed on them, but which had forged signatures, as no notaries were present during most of the witnesses' depositions.
While the government probably had nothing to do with the assassination, JFK's death was certainly serendipitous to those in government who wanted an escalation in the conflct in Vietnam, as opposed to JFKs planned removal of all troops by 1966.
Oswald knew Ruby personally. Ruby admitted his reason for killing Oswald was not to spare Jackie the ordeal of testifying at a trial. Oswald was never prosecuted as a defector and traitor by the US even tho he renounced his citizenship and emigrated to the Soviet Union, where he planned to turn over secret US radar capabilities, hew was allowed to come back and never questioned.
There are just too many questions to believe one lone nut could do this.

The notion that it was the CIA comes from a hollywood movie and a director named Oliver Stone. It makes no sense.
I think LHO was part of the plot to kill JFK but there were unusual mafia connections in the White House, basically mobsters connected with JFK's many gf(s), 'hoes', or mistresses....
Others think that Castro may have retaliated because of attempts on his life by the American CIA.

the problem you got with this question is theres been so much dis info put out , that its turned into joke and sadly the yanks play along. many of them fail to realise that JFK was one of there last hopes . he as well as every other american president assasinated wanted to abolish the federal reserve as its owned by private banks and create mass debt , he was killed for doing a good presidents job , the presidentsy is controlled by these groups and they wate generations to get what they want were now starting to see there plans come into fruition .
watch this clip http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/january2007/090107JFK.htm from the JFK film tells you the reality of the situation in one speech and then look into it.

Google: Gore Vidal interview and watch the video.
He knew the people of whom he speaks, and makes a very plausible and historically correct case for the mob's involvement.

we will probably never know. i believe the US government was involved. stones movie did not dream up CIA involvement. it was a theory before that.
to do those that doubt conspiracy theories. MLK jrs killing was a conspiracy theory proven to be an actual conspiracy.
we shout it out,"who killed the kennedys", when after all it was you and me.

The driver. Oswald was a patsy - there's no doubt about it.
I urge you to watch this film and see who fired the gun and what exactly happened. This is the truth:
