The question is not whether nonassames can work in Assam or not. As citizen of India can one be anywhere in India. When Siva Sena beaten up Biharis in Mumbai and during similar incidents in other part of India what was the govt. doing. It is a simple Law & Order problem. There are enough laws to tackle it. If it is happening it only proves that the govt. machinary is failing at the given area. When a govt fails, the constitution has well specified remedies charted out in it. So what we need is man/women who can uphold the spirit of our constitions. Sorry we dont have them in numbers.

I think there is considerable amount of intolerance in every region of the country in respect of an outsider. No body likes an outsider coming and ruling your native, even if he/she is an integral part of the country.

The problem in Assam or any northeastern country is the Central Government gives step motherly treatment in every other issue. There is no development despite the region being rich in mineral resources and other added advantages. The Central Government or for that matter every business establishment is reaping profits from the region and diverting the same to other parts of the country.

The first and foremost thing to be done would be giving autonomy to the region in respect of economic and trade issues. Leave the region to itself and allow it to stand on its own feet. There shouldnt be any interference of whatsoever nature from the Central Government.

Many parts of this region are struggling to survive for their basic needs. Its like a nice fruit getting roten because of some worms.

The region is self sufficient but there is no proper leadership. There is complete lack of confidence among the general public, which is leading to intolerance.
Inorder to strive for development one needs a vision for the future.
Since the situation is turning from bad to worse, every other person, be it a businessman or politician or terrorist or anybody, wishes to loot the region with what ever means they are capable of. No body is interested in rescuing a burning city. Everybody would either take care of their precious belongings or would try and grab/loot others.

This is another failure of our leaders and their lack of vision.
