Hi, I went for a job interview on Tuesday for a position I saw advertised on a jobs website. It was with an HR consultancy for an administrative position. I attended the interview, and got a response the next day by phone informing me that I did not get the job, but the two people interviewing me were extrmely impressed at my CV and presentation. She said my knowledge of HR was very good. She said she has spoken to the Director about me for a position within client services that will become open within two months time, and will forward my CV. It is flattering but I do not know what to make of it. Is the organisation seriousma dn should I wait for this job or do I look elsewhere. It is a little confusing. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

I have learned from experience, never wait for others to bring it to you, you gotta go get it. I personally would not wait. I would look for another job. If I did get one and then this other did come available then I would consider the switch. This would depend on comparing the two. As long as you are polite to the current job and give a reasonable notice...don't let others hold you back from bettering yourself.

They are probably being genuine because at interviews you often find 2 people who would be good at the job but you have to choose 1 if there is only 1 vacancy. It is nice of them to pass your cv on but a job is not guarenteed with them so keep looking elsewhere and if they do eventually conatact you then consider it then. Good luck

Sounds like they think you are better suited for another job... That happened to me once and I ended up getting the other job that I was put forward for.. though I did keep looking and went to other interviews while I was waiting as you never know. I also found a temp job for three months to get some money in my pocket. Good luck!

You need to check your spelling first of all. Did you speak clearly and spell everything right on you resume. That is the first thing I'm thinking from your question. Secondly, their was someone else that fit the profile more to their liking, sorry to say. They still liked you but, not for the position. You might not even be the right person after meeting the candidates for the upcoming one as well. You never can tell. It sometimes the mood that the interviewing person is in. good luck.

Well of course keep it in mind and remember they have hiring agents that they can sometimes overthrow. Continue to look elsewhere and if they do call you, weigh your options work for them or keep the job you may have, I say if it is a good place to work and great pay see if they hire you, and if you have to get a job in the mean time try part time so you will be able to do the job you want when it becomes available. Good luck

This has happened to me on a number of occasions - sometimes something comes of it, sometimes they fill the phantom role internally and sometimes they're just keeping you on your toes until they fill the role you applied for. My advice to you would be to put this to the back of your mind - it's yesterday's news now and there's nothing you can do to accelerate the process of having them call you in a couple of months' time.

Focus on your other applications, apply for a position with the competition of this firm and if nothing comes of those applications then you may have a get out of jail free card in a couple of months' time. Don't bank on it though, keep applying for other jobs and something will come up sooner or later, it always does.

They liked you - they just didn't think you were qualified for this particular job. If the other position doesn't open soon, like within the next couple of weeks at the most, then you probably won't hear from them again.

Yes, they are serious. Why in the world would you question it?
Yes, you should continue looking because you haven't been formally offered a job, just a recommendation and that your CV will be passed to the other department.

You are good enough I would say from the comments coming to you from that Lady, but better not to wait for it...

Seek a position elsewhere, and DO NOT STAND STILL....

Should the same opportunity come again, by all means...., but should it not come, then you are on the run for yet another opportunity....

DON'T TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED...

You were probably 2nd on the list, you just know who you were up against, I would imagine they are serious about getting back to you, but dont hang around.

But you never know what could come up in the mean time, unless its a company you really want to work with
