I havn't deliberately done anything, but it could have been my toddler messing about with the key pad and mouse. Is it something to do with 'cookies' and how do I sort it please???

If you have Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall installed then http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/docid/2001092809135036?OpenDocument&lg=en&ct=us&seg=hho&src=hot

Otherwise in Internet Options make sure use TLS and Use SSL all versions are checked.
If still not working then try:

Re-register .dll files
Re-register the following .dll files:
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Dssenh.dll
Rsaenh.dll
Gpkcsp.dll
Sccbase.dll
Slbcsp.dll
Cryptdlg.dll
To re-register these files, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, and then click Run.
2.In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3.At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after each line:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
4.Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in FileName succeeded.
5.Type exit.

go onto the internet properties, you can access this on the desktop by right clicking on the internet icon and clicking properties, or while on internet explorer click on the tools tab and the properties..., then click on one of the tabs, and you should get page for security, you might have changed that to block all sites....
change it to a certain level that states let me access safe sites...

or it could be your firewall blocking your internet explorer.... for that click on the firewall and then on options on program control, then check that internet explorer has been given access...

or it could be the pop up that is previously mentioned....

if not then reinstall ie with the new one ie 7 from the microsoft website
http://www.microsoft.co.uk then search for internet explorer 7... good new features..

Hope it helps..
