No two people are the same not even sisters. Everybody has a different take on life, there are plenty of men who never want children and nobody queries that as a problem. But I have a friend who didnt want or considered children until she was 39.

My friends sister was the same, then she discovered she was pregnant. All the way through her pregnancy, she refered to her baby as 'the brat'. and we all thought she was gonna be a terrible mum. This couldnt be any further from the truth though. Now she has had the baby, she is a brilliant mother to her baby and has a fantastic bond with her baby. Some women realise they have maternal instinct only when they have children, while for others it makes no difference at all. Theres nothing wrong with having no maternal instinct!

Some women dont have that instinct. Its okay, dont feel bad or ashamed of it. Its a fact of life, just like some women want dozens of kids, while others are happy with just 1. I am one of the women that children flock to! I like kids & have 4 (2 mine, 2 hubbys). But my mother on the other hand, was not a mother, nor did she have that maternal instinct about her.
Its fine!

I didn't feel any in my early 20s. When my sis had her children, I was 26. I fell totally in love with my neices and with children in general.

An orphanage in france, where moms used to drop off their babies right after birth began an experiment - get the mom to nurse at least once. Child abandonments dropped 40% in women who nursed at least once.

Nursing your child floods your brain with oxytocin. This hormone produces feelings of well being and a desire to mother. So, nursing one's baby is the most important thing to do, as it lays down the maternal instinct many don't feel otherwise.

Unless you have kids but no maternal instinct, I wouldn't sweat about it. I had minimal interest in kids until I started having them, and that's when the maternal instinct kicked in for me!

Nope, I'm 35 and I am not maternal AT ALL - I do not plan on having kids.

i'm a bit similar, but i'm only 21 and i have no desire for kids at the moment, kids are ok, but its always good when you can give someone else's back!!
i think it's just something that will come with time, or not at all, most women get broody at some point, seen it in my sister, she wasnt really bothered when people brought their kids round, now she loves it!
dont fret.....just takes time for some!

I am 36 and still haven't got one. I'm not worried, so why should any body else be worried! Life would be dull if we were all the same!
