Who else thinks that the controversy over Shulpa has got out of hand? In my opinion it's all been a publicity stunt to boost the viewing fugures. They didn't make this much fuss when Jodie Marsh was being bullied.

The context is entirley different and the bullying towards Shilpa (not Shulpa) Shetty is racism in both a subtle and overt form.
Racism has at it's heart ignorance of opposing culture. Ignorance of culture is not racist in itself, we all have this to some degree but in some it motivates learning, understanding and intergration inspite of difference. In others it motivates the development of fixed and offensive viewpoints used as a weapon towards the person of difference to the tormentor/s. Racism is not merely a matter of skin colour either, to assume all Indian people are thin because they do not cook their food properly as one of those silly, offensive girls in BB did, is racist. To assume, for example, that the Irish are stupid or the French do not wash properly (common myths we are all aware of) is also racist. So to answer your question, no it has not been blown out of proportion it is absolutely right people demonstrate outrage at what has happened.

I do agree that the media in and around this subject seem to have gone mad. ! and BB is using it to their advantage. I don't watch the programme but yesterday i switched it on and the camera was on Shulpa the whole time. There was racist comments made , some people don't even know that they are making racist comments.although ignorance is no excuse.
I think the programme makers should stop avoiding the issue and deal with it ( even inside the house, like a task ).instead of using racism to boost ratings.

I'm sick and tired of it all. I'll be glad when it's all over and done with. Please friends, let's have a BB amnesty for the rest of the day!
