I think Raines should go. Whether he will is another story. I'd say it's a 50-50 shot at best.
McGriff, while a fine player, would not get my vote if I had one. I think the writers will deny him too.

Neither one of them will. McGriff is one of the most overrated hitters in the past 20 years. Good guy I think and a valuable asset but not a Hall of Famer. He does ALMOST have 500 home runs...so I could see a case made for him, I just don't think he'll make it. Since Andre Dawson isn't there, neither should McGriff. But if he did go, I think he'd wear a Blue Jays hat.
Rock Raines had a good start to his career. He does have over 800 stolen bases and was a pretty good hitter...I think I'd vote for him, but I don't think he'll make it anytime soon. Stolen bases aren't as much respected as home runs. Right or wrong, it's true.

Raines deserves to be. Henderson is widely accepted as the best leadoff hitter of all time and I'd say that Raines was pretty comparable. Over 800 steals and a much better steal percentage than Ricky. A switch hitter that could hit for average with a bit of pop. His only downfall is having played in Montreal and we all know that MLB hates Montreal for some reason.
I wouldn't have a problem with McGriff getting in. He had a good run with the Jays and Braves when they had their significant runs and he hit nearly 500 HRs.
Reva: You said the numbers don't support them. Did you even look at the numbers?

McGriff won't , He'll get about 25%. Raines has a good chance because he was the best lead of hitter in the national league in the 1980's and he has over 800 stolen bases. Along with that, Goose is his only competition next year.
Raines will get in.

I don't think McGriff has a legit shot. Raines has an outside shot but he's in the same boat as Jim Rice. The Sports Writers look too much at numbers and did a player hit a milestone (400 HRs, 3000 hits ect..) and rarely look at the overall impact the player had when they were active.

I don't think that either one wil make the HOF. They suffer from having decent careers, like Don Mattingly, but not outstanding careers like a Cal Ripken or Tony Gwynn. If Mcgriff would entert he would wear a Blue Jays hat.

McGriff - unlikely
Raines - closer, but possibly not (assuming you mean Tim Raines, Sr, of course)
The numbers aren't quite there for either of them.

Hate to say it, but don't think either one will make the Hall of Fame. Both players had fine careers and they both were examples of atheletes to look up to, but the stats just are not there to make the Hall of Fame. If McGriff DID make the Hall, I think he would pick the Braves cap, since he had some of his best years with them.
