Sure they can. but if they are being picked for agricultural purposes they are picked while they are still very green so they don't spoil before they are shipped. notice in the supermarket a fresh batch of bananas can be very green.

Even 3 year old kids knew that. The answer is "yes" (if the banana is not remove from the tree before it get ripe). Nice try.

In the jungle they do but banana harvesters cut them green so that they will be nice and yellow and ripe by the time they reach the grocery stores.

Yes bananas can ripen in the trees. I had some when I lived in Florida. We would take off what we wanted and left some on the tree. They taste better when they are allowed to ripen that way.
