I got a new laptop hard drive from ebay, and it has big round stickers on the back of it saying 'Security Protected' - they are all over the back of it and I wondered, should I remove these?

The hard drive doesnt seem to be working at the moment and it makes a funny noise so I think it may be the stickers stoping something moving. Any thoughts?

Never known stickers to block moving bits of a hard drive.

If the drive isn't working it's either damaged in transit or dead when sold or you've wired it up wrong.

Check your installing of the drive and if it's OK go back to the vendor. Don't remove stickers as you'll provide an excuse to the vendor that you fiddled with the drive and broke it (if they want to take that excuse...)

no some of these stickers prevent air from flowing into your drive, but most protect the screw holes.
