I don't think they are completely scripted but I do believe parts of them are staged to make them more interesting. Certainly during the editing they keep in the most controversial and bizarre segments.
No doubt if a reality show were shown live, it would be mostly boring.

I don't think that reality shows are actually real. Of course people write the story lines. Plus these people know they are on tv so they don't act or react as they normally would...their more dramatic. I can't stand reality shows. If you want to see reality, walk out on your front porch.

They are all scripted. Just watch the credits and see how many story writers there on any given show.

Somewhere in between, I think the producers give them idea or avenues and they follow 'em. And I am sure alcohol is always easily accessible.and except for the ones where people are competing and need actual talent to win. It's a conspiracy all networks are in on to try to squeeze out anything that was once good on TV to try to lower societys taste so that they can produce easier to make pieces of crap. People are interested in other people's lives. We all groan when we see the shows on TV, but we sit down and watch them anyway

I dont really think they are scripted but the director probably tells one person that the other person said something bout them so theyll start a fight and make the show more interesting!

I think all of them are at least somewhat scripted. Read the fine print at the end of the credits.
