I'm proud owner of 2 goldfish that have survived 6 housemoves in the past 7 years. Can't pinpoint what you did wrong but here's what to do.
- never overfeed them. Once a day is overfeeding if they cant finish the food within two minutes. After two minutes remove any remaining food from the surface.
- Do not change the water so often. Once a fortnight is good. Top up the water with fresh one if necessary.
- Some people say never use soap when washing the tank. I personally always use soaps, but I'm extremely thorough when removing/rinsinhg any soap residues away..
- Never forget to put the de-chlorinating drops after changing water
- Make sure there are enough space for the goldfish ie, your tank isn't too small is it?
- Finally, if one is looking a bit sick, separate him and put a pinch of table salt in his separated temporary home.
Best of luck!

If you seriously care about the welfare of your fish then I suggest going to your local pet store & getting a care sheet or some info from the staff... I'm sure they will be happy to help you..... Then you know you are getting all the right information (notice that everyone has different answers here......?)
People think that if they feed their fish more than once a day they are overfeeding - WRONG! Feed 2/3 times a day with SMALL amounts of food, no more than they can eat in a couple of minutes....
How big is your tank? The larger the tank, the easier it is to maintain good water quality…(believe it or not) When cleaning your filter media do you rinse it in some old aquarium water? The chlorine in tap water will kill off the filter bacteria living in the foam/other media…. This is important..!
Do you have a good quality filter?
Change around 1/3 – ½ of the water fortnightly not 3 times a week…. & you should never change all of the tank water at once… (actually you should never have to) this can stress your fishes out plus it removes the beneficial bacteria living in your tank….
And I know you are using a chlorine neutralizer, right? & with every water change?
Good luck…

What size tank and how long has it been running?
Goldfish need a minimum of 10 gallons each when babies and 20+ when adults. If it is not big enough the water becomes toxic much faster and they also become stunted which will eventually kill them if the water doesn't first. The water being foggy could mean its a bacterial bloom which should mean your tank is new and its not cycled yet, while the tank cycles the water can get very deadly. Test your water and if anything is wrong do water changes to fix it, the ammonia and nitrite should be zero and the nitrate should be around 20.

In addition to the other information you have been given, goldfish and platys cant live together. Platys are tropical, and require a heater in their tank. Goldfish can live in a much colder water temperature and dont need a heat source at all. Eventually if your fish live long enough, the goldfish will get big enough to eat the littler fish. I had a roommate who did this a few years ago.

ok lots of problems! did you just start your aquarium? the foggy sounds like you just got fish and put them in. the foggy is tons of bacteria produced by adding fish to water with no good bacteria in it. the fish poops or doesn't eat all his food and the bad bacteria go crazy over it. it probably smells a little too from all that bacteria. i would strongly suggest you start doing 50% water changes every 2 days to try to clear it up. you need to put 3 things in your water to help clear it up.
1 -- a dechlorinator
2 -- something with beneficial bacteria that will dominate the bad bacteria -- like stress zyme or cycle.
3 -- melafix works like a mild anti-bacterial agent for your fish so they don't get sick. I can't recommend weekly doses of melafix enough.
DON'T use purified water. It sounds like a nice idea but it has no minerals and salts that your fish needs. If you really want to use bottled water then use spring water.
Goldfish are eating machines. And pooping machines. You should feed them enough so they eat for about 2 minutes twice a day. I recommend getting pellets so you can keep better track of food. flakes go everywhere and if they don't get eaten they feed bacteria that make your water cloudy.
In the future don't mix goldfish with platys. You can get your goldfish some ghost shrimp or minnows for friends but platys like different water conditions. If you like platys better they get along great with mollies and swordtails and you put some salt in the water and they are even happier. Its called a brackish water aquarium.
About once a week you should always do a gravel vacuum with a water change to keep your aquarium clean. I do this and wipe down the sides of the tank and rinse off the decorations. It takes about 15 minutes and it keeps everything really clean.
For most fish you can do 20-25% of the water -- just vacuum the gravel until the water is 1/4 gone. its easy. For goldfish its better to do 1/3 of the water. And you might have to every 5 days or so.
You should only have to change the filter once every 2-4 weeks. Just remember the fliter doesn't clean the gravel. You need to use a gravel vacuum.
Another good choice for getting things under control is plants. You can grow one called java fern by tying it to a piece of rock or wood and dropping it in. its happy as long as it doesn't get too much light. most aquariums don't start with too much light so you are probably ok. you want about 2 watts of bulb per gallon of water. if you have more then just run the light for about 4 hours a day -- 2 hours each time you feed is fine.

he's gulping air -- you want an aerator, or air pump. He has bumped off all the air from the clean water you gave him at the same time with his gills and now has to gulp air. you could both placed a small air stone on the great of the tubing coming from the air pump or you could placed a small clear out in the bowl, it truly is very extra useful and could nonetheless upload some air into the water. Bowls are not formed good for a small cartridge form clear out so that you've gotten to apply the air stone. it truly is going to aerate the water yet gained't get rid of the pollution from the water because the clear out might want to.

What happened is that you need to feed them more then once a day. You need to feed them 2 times a day. That is why they are dyeing. The fish tank is foggy probably because of the filter or because you need to change the water. You need to change the fish's water at least 3 times a week.
