To be good is an important guideline for living but being aware everytime is equally imp When you do something bad ( cos u r only human) and you are 'aware' of it you can learn from that experience. And finally that is what life is about learning ...abt yourself & others

hmm. such a profound question.. but what is really good or bad. a lot of books have define and differentiate between good and bad.

being good or bad is pretty much subjective and conforms on how society defines it. if the society conforms that this certain action is good and you do it otherwise then you are bad.

based on the question, i certainly agree that we have to be good everytime. but from whom are we projecting our goodness to other people all the time? if that is the case, then we are not projecting good rather we are pleasing them. being good starts from the innerselves. that is firmly understanding of who we are and what we are not.

when we do a certain action, we must always look ourselves on the mirror and ask, if i were do this thing to myself, will i be happy? judging from that question it only portrays that if we feel good about it, then do it. however, there are certain actions which we feel good but bad to others. we must keep it in our heart, that there are norms that defines good both external and internal.

if the goodness that you feel is only by yourselves and contrary to the society, then it is not goodness.

As the saying goes: "Love yourself as you have love your neighbor"
"Do unto others what you want others to do unto you."

:-)

Truly speaking, our sole responsibility is to be good towards ourselves, as we only behave with others, just the way we behave with ourselves, when we are by ourselves.

Otherwise the way we behave with others cannot be genuine at all, and sooner or later it would backfire on us, as we would get exhausted acting good, nice or simply pleasing with others. Who on the other hand will soon figure out our fakeness and start hating us for faking it with them, all the while.

How do you define 'good' and in what context do you mean?

If you mean I get stranded on an island full of hungry cannibals, I want to never be good ever.

No, we don't. We are human. Everyone have two sides. Otherwise we wouldn't have good and bad.
