Anyone else a completely devoted fan of Ayn Rand? She may have theology that some people really don't like, but I think she was an amazing woman.

Not really. Though, the ones who are fans wouldn't really appreciate you referring to her as having a 'theology' as she was an atheist, and so I feel that there should be no more mention of her from the likes of you.

She was indeed an amazing woman, but I can't claim to be a fan. Years ago while living in Geneva I was lent a book of hers entitled "Los que vivimos" by a Spanish friend and devoured it avidly, only to be disappointed years later when I came across the English original: "We the Living", which caused me to feel that English wasn't the right language for her. Suppose she had emigrated somewhere other than the USA, would she have written the same or comparable books and would she have had a wider following? How can we ever know?

Ayn Rand replaced right into a utopian. She longed for a economy of, by using and for the job creators completely divorced of any attachment to the underlying society, which existed in straightforward terms to serve the desires of the heroic job creators. She replaced into adamantly adversarial to social classes. She was once greater a stay and enable die form of gal with a paint-by utilising-numbers writing form and 0.33-value economic theories. Have a passable Monday!

i completely agree with you.the first time i read the fountainhead...it turned the world upside down....i mean so completely yet so logically reversed our established ideas on egoism and altruism...i do believe that she was an amazing woman and today, when half the people just follow ideas because the shepherd of their flock think it's good and don't think for themselves, i think individualism or in other words, creativity is being harmed and there's a great need for rand's theory today...

I love Rand (met my husband through her works), but I don't necessarily agree with her views. Though her philosophy is interesting, as with most philosophy, it cannot be practiced to its fullest extent in real life. I think that is why I love Fountainhead more than Atlas Shrugged--less philosophy and more novel. Have you ever read a better sex scene than in her books?! :)

She and her philosophy never had much integrity. She kept poor old Nathaniel Brandon humping her whilst they both lied to their respective spouses and their Objectivist adherents - until Nate couldn't take it any more and fled. Of course, lying is an integral part of the right wingnut platform, even today.

I have read a few of her books, including two novels. Sorry, I was not impressed by her pop philosophy.
