There are 3 products I have tried and they all 3 work very well. They are CLR,Lime Away, and the Works(Disinfectant Toilet Bowl Cleaner.CLR is the most expensive, then lime Away and the Works is the cheapest. They all 3 get rid of Rust, lime scale, hard water stains and the last one also gets rid of bacteria. All three are very dangerous if you get them on your skin so be VERY careful. These 3 chemicals don't have to sit very long and require very little "elbow grease". Hope this helps.

Try white vinegar (5% acetic acid). Apply it neat or a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and borax for best results. Leave it for a couple of hours. Re-treat as necessary. Ideally you should drain the basin of the toilet first.

You can also try commercial products that include sequestants, such as Calgon.

Other good products that may be more readily available include Harpic Power Tablets (2 tablets left overnight in the basin of the toilet) or Lime-Away.

only thing I can think of to get rid of lime is "LIMEAWAY" or "CLR" I like the latter better.. If the toilet is porcelain, you can-carefully take a flat-end box cutter- the kind where the razor blade slips in horizontally- and gently scrape the lime off after letting is soak in CLR. The razor won't harm the porcelain, but don't use it on anything else (fiberglass/ plastic or your floors!)

Limescale is an alkali so you need an acid based cleaner to get rid of it. What ever you use leave it for a good while to soak in then re apply then scrub

Something industrial strength, from somewhere like B&Q( hardware store) but be very very very careful, if it is strong enough to eat limescale it could do you a very serious injury if it gets splashed on you .

You would need those thick black gloves and eye goggles, are you sure it's worth the risk????

Caustic soda and lime scale remover. Use both separately. The caustic soda alone might do the job if left overnight. Read the label carefully before use. Nasty stuff!

CLR is great on limescale which can be purchased at a walmart, walgreens or on the internet. Hope this works
