I agree the behaviour of the three witches has been despicable and I must say I am in awe of the self control and poise Shilpa has shown in dealing with them - she is a true lady. However - is it really necessary to riot in the streets and burn effigies? It's just three undereducated, jealous, inarticulate little chav's bullying.

i really dont see what the big deal is with jade and co. Yes they are being a bit nasty but not racist. shilpa is an indian so HOW is callin her an indian racist, that is what she is. What about the sad act who called her white trash, now thats racist, oh but of course nobody cares about that do they. If shilpa didnt like to be confronted then she shouldnt have gone in the house. What jade sed was bang on, shilpa maybe a star in her own country but shes not in india now so she cant expect everyone to love an respect her. I didnt like jade b4 she went in the house this time, but im warmin to her now. The indians burnin the effegies should watch the show, after all shilpa herself went into the dairy room sayin that SHE DIDNT THINK JADE WAS BEIN RACIST, so why all the fuss. Jade to win.

The bahiviour of those three girls were shameful and how come they offend an Indian person? They should apologize to Shilpa and what do you expect from the Indian government after this and from the poor Indian people? Should they happily dance on the streets that oh good that in Britain one of our favourite and nice actress was insulted?
People are right to protest over such thing and let their anger express

I agree - there is not much hope for the human race if we are going to take on board the squabbles of our children by reacting in extreme ways to different countrys.

All these ladies are adults and should know better, they did after all choose to live in this environment. If they thought it would bring out there dark side that they didn't want the public or nations to see then they should not have agreed to take part.

However it is the sort of thing that the newspapers just love. Who knows perhaps someone was paid to agitate - there are some sick people in the world today.

Play nicely

Definitely. Shilpa is reacting in a dignified manner and is showing up both the idiots on Big Brother and the idiots in India burning effigies.

No and I agree with the Indian people. Burning an effigy helps get rid of a lot of pent up tension. Our relationship with India and the Indian people is of paramount importance we cannot allow the sort of nonsense which may have happened in BB to continue.

What do we do with witches? We burn them at the stake, that's what we do.

yes I agree with Champagne, it's all getting out of hand. I haven't been watching it, but have read the stuff in the news, so I cannot give a proper answer. Do you think that the burning of the effigies etc etc shows us more about the delicate political and 'PC' climate the world is in right now?

I've never watched the program (and will not) but aren't ALL these people paid?

The 3 retards are payed to act that way or they wouldn't be there.

As for the Indian reaction, give me a break, these are the same crew that burn the wife alive after the "hubby" dies.

First I am indian .i am taught never to lose my head when others lose theirs. As far as shilpa shetty is concerned she is an actress .A bollywood actress first learns how to cry to be a successful actress. And she was paid 350000pounds to do dat.shilpa is a failed actress currently in bollywood so probably to get some media hype she walked in big brother.
rioting on indian streets are directly related to some election locally(dats how political parties get their media attention)
I dont think its anything to do with racism....its hype=money in entertainment industry.
Anyways the latest is that india has invited those three witches to india for healing experience, read on.
India has invited Jade Goody, the "Celebrity Big Brother" contestant accused of racism against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty, to visit the country to "experience the healing nature of India".

The invitation has been extended in an open letter published in The Guardian and the Daily Telegraph by the India Tourism Office (ITO) here. It has offered her a "welcoming hand". The letter is titled "To Jade Goody and friends".

Using the "Celebrity Big Brother" furore to hardsell 'incredible' India to western tourists, the ITO reminded Goody and other readers of India's "bustling cosmopolitan cities", "snow-clad mountains" and "long sandy coastlines".

The letter reads: "Dear Jade Goody. Once your current commitments are over, may we invite you to experience the healing nature of India? Being one of the world's oldest civilisations, our land is one where the ancient and the modern culture co-exist and a multitude of religions live in harmony.

"As a beauty therapist, you may be especially interested in visiting one of the many spas where you can cleanse your stresses away, enjoy yoga in the land that invented it and experience Ayurvedic healing, which promotes positive health and natural beauty."

As India's tourism experts pitch into exploit the reality show's potential, the Shilpa show has led to adverse financial returns to others.

While the main Carphone Warehouse withdrew its sponsorship, Goody and fellow contestant glamour model Danielle Lloyd have lost out lucrative contracts.

The perfume Shop, the retailer selling Goody's Shh... perfume announced it was withdrawing the product from its shelves while Lloyd lost a six-figure modelling contract.

Both Goody and Lloyd are among contestants accused of racism against Shilpa.

After Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown, Culture secretary Tessa Jowell also intervened into the debate, and termed Wednesday night's show as "disgusting" and deplored "racism being presented as entertainment".

Tonight, Shilpa will go head to head with Goody in a public vote for eviction, with the latter the favourite to go.

Last night, viewers saw Goody refer to Shilpa as "poppadom" later explaining she wanted to use an Indian name and the only word she could think of was an Indian food.

Meanwhile, there are reports that no promotion events have been planned by HarperCollins, the publisher of Goody's biography, next month. Lloyd lost a contract to be the face of motorcycle insurance firm Bennetts.

The company said: "Bennetts is strongly opposed to any form of racism and bullying and, in light of the accusations made against Miss Lloyd, has taken the decision to terminate its arrangements with her with immediate effect."

A statement issued on her behalf rejected the claims.

Charles Dunstone, the chief executive of main sponsor Carphone Warehouse, said: "We are totally against all forms of racism and bullying and feel that as long as this continues, we are unable to associate our brand with the programme."

Andy Duncan, the Channel 4 chief executive, said: "The debate has been heated, the viewing has at times been uncomfortable but, in my view, it is unquestionably a good thing the programme has raised these issues and provoked such a debate."

Duncan said he was "not ashamed of what was broadcast, quite the opposite", and added that the programme, which Thursday night had 5.2 million viewers "has touched a real nerve".

Try having Pakistanis as your neighbours and you'll soon change your mind.Straight off the plane with half their extended family - benefits galore - milking the NHS without paying a penny towards it - don't attempt to speak english etc etc . You'd be surprised how many people feel the same but never bother complaining publically.

you forget shilpa is a big superstar there, not one of our z list celebs you imagine two or three black or Muslim no-bodies bullying and being racist to dawn french or someone that well loved by us in a foreign land and all we got were newspaper reports then i think we would over react, so like the rest of it it is all fuelled by a crap media that has no clue as to the damage it does to peoples live.
