I am a high school student and I would use the laptop for schoolwork and I am also the editor in chief of my school's internal magazine. So I would use it for graphic design and editing. What brand of laptop will best suit me? HP? Acer? Vaio? Toshiba?

The brand has nothing to do with it. It depends on the hardware/specs that is needed to run graphic design and editing software. Also it would depend on your budget.

In terms of brand, most are the same and it all depends on how you handle and take care of your laptop that matters.
HP has a good customer care service though. I have an HP and i am very happy with it.

I would yes it would do the job for you. The only thing that would bother me if I was buying it is the CPU. It is AMD and I am not fond of them because they overheat and I have come across a lot of computers with AMD chips and I tend to stay away from them. The newer chips might be better than the older ones. Do some surfing and check out the specs on the chip and see if anybody else is having problems with them. I have HP Pavilion but it has a Celeron chip and I am very happy with it. The price looks pretty good too for a laptop. You won't have to do any upgrading either, so that is another bonus. An add on - the person before me hasn't figure out that you are looking for a laptop, all laptops have integrated video. Unless something new has come down and I don't know about it.

It's not the brand but the software that you load on it.

Whatever software you use for creating the magazine will determine the spec of the laptop you buy. Check out the requirements for that package.

Most laptops are pretty much the same - just different internal specs.

it depends on budget but better to buy a high end configuration as things keep changing you dont need to change frequently as early as three years
